Los Angeles, Calif. – As of 4:40 a.m. this morning Wednesday, November 7, with 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Alex Villanueva leads the Los Angeles’s County Race for Sheriff.
Villanueva worked tirelessly talking to voters from all walks of life in the last 17 months, forcing Sheriff McDonnell into a historic runoff. After serving the LASD for 32 years Villanueva, an Air Force veteran with a Doctorate in Public Administration, launched a grassroots operation; he reached out to more than 600,000 voters across the board, traveled more than 20,000 miles to garner a wide range of support from voters throughout the region by listening to thousands of concerned citizens regarding the increase in violent crime across the county, and addressing concerns regarding ICE’s presence in Los Angeles’s county jail. Villanueva held seven community forums and attended hundreds of public events from a plethora of community and religious organizations across the county to talk about his political platform to reform, rebuild, restore the LASD.
