Candidate for Sheriff Alex Villanueva Will Conclude Series of Community Town Hall Meetings in South Los Angeles
Los Angeles, Calif. – Los Angeles County Sheriff Candidate Alex Villanueva concludes his series of Community Town Hall Meetings in South Los Angeles. The Community Town Hall Meetings were held throughout the county, among a wide range of audiences in an effort to hear voters’ concerns and speak about his values based agenda as the next Sheriff for Los Angeles County.
Villanueva held community conversations in Torrance, Long Beach, Venice, Glendale, and South Los Angeles. In addition to his own town hall forums, Villanueva has attended dozens of community events hosted by such groups as the ACLU, Conference of AME Churches, and a plethora of religious and community organizations. Villanueva launched a historic grassroots operation and garnered a wide range of support in the last eight months campaigning throughout the county by listening to hundreds of concerned citizens and talking about his political platform to transform the LASD.
“It’s been a privilege to meet people from all walks of life in affluent and under-resourced communities throughout the county. Residents at-large all agree on one thing: they want a Sheriff who will be transparent and has the institutional knowledge, and leadership skills to bring reform, rebuild and restore the LASD,” said Villanueva. “The majority of voters and residents that I spoke with want to put a stop to Sheriff McDonnell’s current practices of using our county jail system and the department as a testing ground for the Trump administration.”
